FreshWater® Vanishing Act XL is designed to remove calcium from source water when filling a hot tub, helping to soften hard water before regular water care begins.
It is commonly used in hard water areas to improve water feel, reduce scale build up, and help protect heaters, pipework, and other internal components. Softer water can also reduce the frequency of water changes and improve overall bathing comfort.
Vanishing Act XL is particularly important when using the FreshWater Salt System or ACE water system, as elevated calcium levels can prevent these systems from operating correctly.

Step 1
After filling your hot tub with fresh water, use test strips to measure water hardness.
Step 2
If calcium hardness exceeds 75 ppm, a Vanishing Act calcium removal bag should be used.
Step 3
Before placing the bag into the hot tub, rinse it thoroughly with clean water.
Step 4
Position the Vanishing Act XL in the hot tub as instructed on the packaging. Placement may vary depending on your hot tub model.
Step 5
Leave the bag in the water for 24 hours, turning it over after 12 hours to ensure even calcium removal.
Additional Advice
In areas with very hard source water, more than one Vanishing Act or XL bag may be required to reduce calcium levels sufficiently.
